The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) on Sunday lodged cases against 1,050 vehicles violations as part of its Operation Focus 3 project that was launched post the Vadakkencherry bus accident that claimed nine lives.
Following statewide inspections conducted by the MVD, Rs 14,54,550 were imposed in fine of which Rs 1,93,000 was collected.
The fitness certificates of 74 vehicles were cancelled while 30 driving licenses were also suspended.
Cases were registered against 48 vehicles for illegal alterations and 92 others for defective speed governors.
Besides, 754 vehicles were penalised for installing laser/coloured/flash lights, which is not permitted by law. Action has been taken against 175 vehicles for causing noise pollution and having air horns.
