The Centre has rejected the Kerala govt. rules for appointment of lecturers in Universities in the State. The present system followed in the state, goes with no categorization based on the subjects taught. In Universities, the designations are being considered as a single unit, while implementing reservation. However, as per the latest norms put forward by the Center, each department and subject would have to be taken as a separate unit, while implementing the reservation.
It was after the Allahabad High Court verdict, followed by the Supreme Court verdict in favour of the system, which the MHRD decided to issue a notice regarding the same to all Universities, functioning under UGC.
