Ernakulam Central Police Inspector S. Vijayasankar has maintained that the force would arrest more people in link with the Whatsapp groups, which spread child porn. According to the reports, several people, who lead normal social and own high profiles in the society would be caught by the police. Yesterday, a 55 year old middle aged man was arrested by the police for spreading child porn. Similarly, a 23 year old man from Cherthala too was caught by the police; he is also an admin of a popular Whatsapp group, while police has seized several child porn videos from his mobile phone.
The popular Whatsapp group ‘Friends’ is said to be the brainchild of these two people. Police has levied POCSO as well as charges based on IT Act against both. Several people are part of the chain, which is said to have born out from the regular visit of the concerned people to the popular website, ‘Planet Romeo’. The German based social media platform, which was intended to be a meeting place for bi – trans sexual people, is said to be one among the many groups that have spearheaded the spreading of child porn.
