Excise Department has come up with new norms for ‘Civil Excise Officer’ posts. According to the new norms, a candidates appearing for civil excise officer physical test, would have to run 2.5 kilometers. The previous physical endurance tests required candidates to complete a mere 2 kilometers. Due to the same reason, a large number of candidates went onto succeed in the physical test. Though there was an opinion about increasing the distance to be covered to 3 kilometers – as was in India Reserve Battalion – the plan however was dropped later.
It was in line with the board meeting held between the members, which PSC decided to come up with new norms. That said, male candidates are required to cover the distance under 13 minutes, whereas female candidates should do the same under 15 minutes.
