Last day, several reports came that indicate the grave situation, which Thrissur district is in right now. The reports mainly projected the growing number of covid positive cases through transmission. Following the presence of Covid positive cases, several hospitals, village offices were closed in Thrissur, while the Thrissur Corporation too got closed partially. Last day, Thrissur Corporation area has managed to find a place amongst the list of hotspots in the state. Now, the adjacent district, Malappuram too reports a significant number of cases through transmission.
While a mendicant from Edappal was tested positive couple of days ago, it was later found that, a Panchayat office worker has had contact with the mendicant. It is now believed that he caught the disease during his attempt to give food to the mendicant. After the incident was reported, the Panchayat office got closed down. 7 wards in Edappal as well as the adjacent panchayat, Vattamkulam are already termed as containment zones by the government. Similarly, the fire and rescue office in Perinthalmanna too got closed down, as one of its officers was tested positive. With more and more cases being reported through transmission, Kerala is surely facing a tough time.
