As the entire state is reeling under tremendous pressure, with government confirming super spread in Poonthura, natives have staged a massive protest in response to the tight measures taken by the authorities. Hundreds of locals in the region have taken themselves to the streets that too without wearing face masks, demanded the government to ease the lockdown measures in the region. The protesters contradict the claims made by the government and maintain that Poonthura is not in a grave situation.
The protesters also said that those who are in quarantine centers, are not getting enough food and other amenities. They also claimed that since shops remain closed, people are unable to buy essential items; they also maintain that they are facing an unprecedented financial trouble as well. Though quite a lot of police officials are being staged therein Poonthura, they haven’t confronted with the locals yet. Last day, according to the governmental statistics, more than 80 people from Poonthura have caught the disease, and the region is on the verge of community spread. Government has already announced triple lockdown in the region and more than 500 security personals have been deployed in the region.
