In a cyber attack on a data processor in February, Air India has leaked the personal information of passengers, including credit cards, passports and phone numbers. According to Air India, more than 45 lakh passengers registered between August 26, 2011 and February 3, 2021 have been leaked.
The attack on Sita, a Geneva-based passenger system operator, also leaked names, dates of birth, contact information and ticket information.
Sita PSS, the data processor for the passenger service system for storing and processing personal information of passengers, has recently come under cyber attack. About 45,00,000 people lost their data in the incident, ”Air India said in an e-mail to passengers.
The leaked information was for passengers registered between August 26, 2011 and February 3, 2021. Name, date of birth, contact information, passport information and ticket information were leaked. Credit card data was also leaked. But the password data was not affected by the attack. Air India said it had launched an investigation into the incident.
