New Delhi: The decision to increase the DA of central Government Employees and pensioners has been halted. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. The decision comes in the wake of Covid’s financial crisis.

Last month, the government announced the DA. From 17 per cent to 21 per cent. The decision was to be given from January 1. However, it has been decided not to implement it this calendar year. In addition, the DA increase for July 2020 and January 2021 is also omitted.

Meanwhile, the Union Finance Ministry said that the existing shortage rates would continue. The government estimates that the freezing hike will cut costs by up to March 27, 2021 crore.
