Deep Sidhu was an Indian actor, lawyer and social activist who worked in the Punjabi film industry. He made his acting debut with the Punjabi film ‘Ramta Jogi’ which brought him the PTC Punjabi Film Award for the Best male debut in Punjabi Cinema(2016). He also won ‘Kingfisher Model Hunt Award in 2011. During the 2019 Indian general election, Sidhu entered politics and campaigned for Gurdaspur BJP MP Sunny Deol. On 9 February 2021, he was arrested for instigating a riot and hoisting a Sikh flag at the Red Fort during the 2021 Indian farmers’ Replublic Day protest. Sidhu pleaded innocence in the case. On 15 February 2022, at the age of 37, he died in a road accident which occurred in Haryana’s Kharkhoda area, near Delhi.
