Kozhikode: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the Diocesan Centenary celebrations. The diocesan authorities have instructed that believers should not come to the event wearing black mascara or shawls from the parishes. The proposal is for those attending the centenary celebrations of the Diocese of Kozhikode inaugurated by the Chief Minister this evening.
The Volunteers Committee issued a directive to believers via WhatsApp based on a police directive not to wear black masks or shawls. There are fears that protesters may come to the event from outside. Diocesan officials say the instruction was given because in that case the faithful would not have to be part of the dispute in any way.
For the past two days, the black mask has been banned from all other events attended by the Chief Minister. After this, the diocesan authorities themselves instructed the believers to come to the ceremony without black.
