Kochi: The High Court has given strict instructions to the police not to shout ‘Eta, ‘Pota’ to the people.
The High Court said that the people are the sovereign.
The court’s directive is on a petition following the incident in which a police officer misbehaved with a lawyer in Alathur, Palakkad.
The people are sovereign. Don’t call them ‘Eda, ‘Don’t’. Justice Devan Ramachandran directed the state police chief to issue a circular clarifying the matter.

The court also stated that the report of the circular should be submitted on February 1. Meanwhile
The High Court had earlier ordered that the ‘Eda, Poda’ call of the police should not be used.
A video of the Alathur police officer calling the lawyer who appeared with the court order as ‘Eta’ was widely circulated on social media.
