The new draft of the policy released by the Department of Telecom (DoT) has placed the ‘Connectivity’ as its foremost important aspect. As was reported by the officials, the two major aspects of the policy, are ‘Connect’ and ‘Propel’. The country’s eco system is going to experience a robust growth, with a large chunk of the population still reeling under lack of connectivity options.
In an attempt to improve the position of India in the International Telecom Union’s Global ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Development index, the DoT is placing much of its stake on the unprecedented growth of Smartphone industry. India was placed on 134th rank in the ICT ranking of 2017.
