In countries like China, Japan, and America, the rates of Covid are increasing day by day. In most places new variants are responsible for the current intensive spread. Reports indicate that the situation in Japan is becoming more serious. Health experts believe that by mid-January, the number of Covid cases in Japan will surpass the previous record.

Health expert Tateda Kazuhiro says that the current covid rates will increase again and will reach the rate of 4,50,000 which was previously calculated by the Japanese government. He is a professor at Toho University and a member of the government’s coronavirus advisory panel.

He says that if the spread of the disease cannot be stopped, the number of people admitted to hospitals will rise again and the death rate will rise. Kazuhiro says that apart from Covid, diseases like seasonal influenza are also likely to spread in the country.

On Friday, Japan recorded its highest ever Covid-19 death rate. 456 people died due to covid in one day only. Before that, the highest number of covid deaths was reported last December, when 420 people died of covid in one day.

Japanese broadcaster NHK reports that the current wave is much higher than the Covid wave the country faced last year. Thousands of people have died in Japan due to covid in one month. Earlier there were concerns that the number of Covid cases and deaths would increase after the New Year celebrations.

In the month of December 2022, 7,688 Covid deaths were reported in Japan. This surpassed the previous peak of 7,329 in August due to the previous wave of Covid-19. There are also reports that the covid death rate has been on the rise since November. According to statistics, the number of Covid-19 deaths in Japan in the last three months is sixteen times higher than in the previous year.

From August 31 to December 27, 40.8 percent of people in their eighties died. The figures also show that 34.7 percent of those in their nineties and 17 percent of those in their seventies died. It is also reported that 92.4 percent of the deaths are among these three age groups.

According to the data from December 26, 2022 to January 1, 2023, thirty million new cases and 10,000 deaths have been reported globally. As of January 1, 656 million cases of Covid-19 and 6.6 million deaths have been reported globally.
