Swarna Suresh and Sandeep Nair, who were taken into custody by the NIA, have been arrested in connection with the smuggling of gold through diplomatic parcels. Their passport and Rs 2 lakh were seized from them. The NIA team returned from Bangalore to Cochin and expected to reach in the afternoon. Both Swapna & Sandeep will be produced in court in the evening. Yesterday team led by investigative team leader of NIA DySP C. Radhakrishna Pillai had arrived in Bengaluru. She was interrogated at the NIA office in Domlur overnight.
Swapna was staying with her husband and two children at an apartment hotel in the 7th block of Koramangala in Bangalore. It was from here that Swapna was taken into custody by the NIA. The phone of Swapna’s daughter was on and it helped to trap the accused. Swapna went into hiding since last Sunday.
