‘Makal’ is an upcoming film starring Meera Jasmine and Jayaram, directed by Sathyan Anthikkad. This film also marks Meera Jasmine’s comeback after a long hiatus. Their fans are excited and waiting for the Jayaram-Meera-Sathyan Anthikad combination film.
Jayaram was speaking at the FTQ with Rekha Menon where he shared his joy when he got a call from Sathyan Anthikad for his new film. In the interview, Jayaram said that he had been waiting for a call from “Sathyettan” for ten years and when the call came, he straight away ran to the pooja room.
“When I realised that I have been cast in the film, I ran to the pooja room. Only after that I gave my ears to the story. But I have not heard the story of any of Sathyettan’s films,” Jayaram said.
Sathyan Anthikad replied that it is a great pleasure to hear that and gives me confidence.
Sathyan said, “When I told Jayaram that I wanted him to act as the father of a Plus One student in the film ‘Makal’, Jayaram asked me if I am the father of Chakkie and Kalidas , then what was the problem with me acting as a father. For them public image and role is least important. They just want to be a part of that film, which is a good gesture.”
“It was also the time when Meera was away from the industry. Even Jayaram had not done any Malayalam film in the recent past. When I called both of them, they came to me overjoyed. I had sent a voice message to Meera. She then said that some time ago, she was actually missing the sets of Sathyan Uncle and she had already made her mind to do a film whenever I will call,” added Sathyan Anthikad.
In Makal, Jayaram plays a Dubai returnee, who starts a pickle business after settling down in his hometown. The film is written by Dr. Iqbal Kuttipuram and produced by Central Productions. Vishnu Vijay is the music director and Rahul Raj composed the background score. ‘Makal’ will hit theatres on April 29.
