Muslim League State Secretary and former MLA KM Shaji Rangath made serious allegations against CPM in the murder of TP Chandrasekaran. Shaji made this revelation at the hearing organized by UDF in Muvattupuzha, Ernakulam. He says that if the investigation had gone up from CPM Kozhikode District Secretary P Mohanan, he would have had to answer including the Chief Minister. KM Shaji also alleged that CPM managed to stop Mohanan through some games. Shaji also says that the CPM leaders held a discussion with Chandrasekharan days before he was killed to ask him to withdraw from the Uralungal Society.

Another thing he is saying, KM Shaji added that he has a good idea of what will happen with this one revelation, and Uralungal is not a small fish. On May 4, 2012, TP Chandrasekaran, who left the CPM and joined the RMP, was hacked to death by a group of people following him in a car at Vallikad near Vadakara. It has to be said that there is no other event that has been discussed so much in the political history of Kerala. The case turned to another level when RMP and CPM were accused of being behind the murder.

In 2009, TP Chandrasekaran left CPM and formed a new party called RMP. In the 2009 general elections, TP contested as an independent candidate for the CPM dissident alliance ‘Left Party Coordination Committee’ and secured over twenty thousand votes leading to the defeat of the LDF candidate.
