When Google India announced that they would be offering 130,000 scholarships for the students as well as developers in India, it definitely means something promising for a country, which is gifted with a huge talent pool. Announcing the initiative, Google India officials maintained that they would be partnering with Udacity and Pluralsight – 2 promising start ups in Indian educational market – in this initiative. Stating that Google India’s initiative was aimed at enabling students and developers gaining skills, which they needed to be successful in changing technology landscape, it has to be seen as a continuation of the vision of Google India, which they made official in 2016. Back in last year, Google India announced that they would be training some two million developers in India.
Partnering with Indian firms
Knowing the challenges of the highly unorganized Indian online education market, Google decided to partner with two Indian firms in this regard – Udacity and Pluralsight. The online education firm Pluralsight and educational organization Udacity have big roles in materializing this initiative. Both would be spearheading the Google’s activity here in the country. Pluralsight receives the lion’s share in this initiative, with Google sponsoring 100 thousand scholarships through the medium; Udacity would be in charge of the rest of the 30 thousand scholarships. For Udacity, Google will further provide a 1000 full nano degree scholarships out from the 30,000 scholarships.
Both the players would be helping developers in gaining knowledge in the advanced learning curriculum. The areas of interest would be ‘Mobile and Web development’, ‘Machine Learning’, ‘AR/VR’, ‘AI’, and ‘Cloud Platforms’.
