In addition to directing, Mohanlal is also responsible for playing the central role of Barroz. He is in the thrill of bringing acting and directing together.
In an interview with Star and Style, Mohanlal was sharing his experience of transition from an actor for over four decades to a director.
Mohanlal says, “The art of directing is something I have been witnessing while acting. Its responsibilities, integrity, and mental stress are all there. I have had the opportunity to act under so many different directors. I used to express my own opinions in order to further enhance the character as an actor while each style had its own output under each of them. What I have seen and understood for forty years now helps me. And the assistance of experts in the respective fields.”
“Not only directing and acting but also organization is on my shoulders. All these people of different nationalities and languages need to be brought together. It is not only a challenge but also gives pleasure to the mind. Many are actors from many different countries. Language is a barrier for them. Many are not trained actors. Some actors were spotted on the cover photos of some magazines,” Mohanlal said.
Asked if there are any additional benefits to being an actor-director, Mohanlal said, “An important advantage is that he is able to understand each of the actors and even their minor issues.”
“There are those who are acting for the first time. There are those who are not very familiar about acting or films. Problems are unique to each individual. I understand them all. Because I have gone through all of this. I advise them how to overcome these issues based on my experiences, ”Mohanlal said.
