The India Meteorological Department has forecasted that heavy rains will continue in Kerala till September 3. All districts have been places under yellow alert on Wednesday.
“Thunderstorm with Heavy rainfall & gusty winds speed reaching 40 Kmph is likely at one or two places in the districts of Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Idukki,” reads the IMD alert.
IMD has sounded orange alert in Idukki, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts on Tuesday in view of the heavy rains.
Very heavy rainfall from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm is expected within 24 hours in these districts.
