Disaster management expert Murali Thummarukudi said that the news that four students died in a stampede during a music festival in Kusat is very sad.
It is not our practice to do adequate crowd management and pre-evacuation planning in fairs and gatherings with large crowds. Tummarukudi says that such tragedies are the problem.
In the context of this incident, Tummarukudi opines that without banning children’s techfest, guidelines should be given on how to conduct events safely.

Accident at Cusat
News comes that four students have died in a stampede during a music festival in Kusat.
Very sad.
It is not our practice to do adequate crowd management and pre-evacuation planning in fairs and gatherings with large crowds.
Now, beyond banning children’s techfests, there will be guidelines, trainings and drills on how to conduct events safely.
Condolences to the bereaved families
