New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said that it is the duty of Shudras to serve Kshatriyas and Brahmins. Sharma’s controversial comment was in a note shared on social media X on December 26.
It was mentioned in the note that Lord Sri Krishna himself describes the natural duties of Vaishyas and Shudras. The reference was to quote the 18th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, the 44th verse of Sanyas Jog.
He also shared a video quoting this. The content of the video was that agriculture, cattle rearing and trade were the natural duty of Vaishyas and the natural duty of Shudras was to serve Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vaishyas.

After the incident, there was widespread criticism against Himanta Biswa Sharma and the BJP. AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi said that it is clear that the BJP’s ideology is humanitarian through the Chief Minister’s remarks.
