In line with the splendid show by the Jeep Compass SUV, Jeep is looking forward launching the diesel automatic version of the same. If reports are to be believed, then the Jeep Compass’s new variant would hit the Indian market by the early part of 2018. Reports further suggest that the diesel automatic variant will be powered by a 2.0 liter multiJet diesel engine, which develops 170hp and a peak torque of 350Nm. It must be added right here in that the petrol version of Jeep Compass has got a 1.4 liter MultiAir turbo engine. It also develops 160hp, and is mated with a 6 speed manual and a seven speed dual clutch automatic modes.
One thing has to be kept in mind that, Jeep Compass petrol variant is available in India right now for price of INR 15.16 lakh. So the major question one would ask is about the price of diesel variant. While we are not clear about Jeep Compass going for a 4×2 and 4×4 variant options with the diesel automatic version. We have to wait till the Auto Expo 2018 to happen in February.
