During the past 24 hours, a total of 49,310 fresh Covid cases were reported in India. Marking the highest singly day figure till date, India is inching towards crossing the 13 lakh mark – after the US and Brazil. With last day’s figure, India’s Covid tally has reached a total of 12,87,945 to its credit. The country has also registered 740 new deaths during the last 24 hours. With this, the pandemic has claimed a total of 30,601 lives from India so far. Ministry of Health informs that the active cases in India stands at 4,40,135, whereas a total of 8,17,209 got cured/discharged/migrated.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi continue to lead India’s Corona chart. However, for the past some days Delhi has consistently been showing less number of positive cases. ICMR statistics show that India has tested a total of 1,54,28,170 samples till day, with country testing a 3,52,801 samples last day. The rate at which new cases are being added to India’s tally is quite alarming, however, the rate of recovery gives some positive figure. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, while speaking before the media, said that the government has got a projected quantum of performing 1 million tests per day.
