June 21: India reported 15,400 new Covid cases, gone past 4 Lakh

ICMR has reported that India has added 15,400 new covid cases during the past 24 hours. With this, the country’s total Covid tally has crossed the 4 lakh mark and reached around 4.10 lakh. It took just 8 days for the country to reach from 3 lakh figure to 4 lakh figure. With 306 more death tolls during the last 24 hours, the pandemic has claimed 13,253 lives from India. The total number of active cases in India stands at 1,69,451, whereas 2,27,755 have recovered from Covid 19.

The country has managed to test 1,89,869 tests in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate too has climbed up to 7.8 per cent, up from 4.06 per cent in the month of May. Maharashtra continues to be epicenter of new Covid cases in India, with an addition of 3,874 more positive cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases in Maharashtra has reched 1.28 Lakh. The death toll in the state stands at 5,894. Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bengal and Madhya Pradesh too have suffered quite massively, with more than 10,000 Covid cases being reported.
