India is witnessing an exponential increase in the number of new Covid cases. In the past 24 hours, the country has added 16,922 new cases, while the ICMR statistics show that a total of 418 people died during the same period.
As of now, the country has marked a total of 4,73,105 Covid patients with a death toll of14894. Currently, India is ranked fourth in the list of countries that Covid has affected, while it is also the third fastest in terms of the daily figure.
It must be said that more than 100,000 people have contracted the disease in the past week alone. As of now, a total of 1,86,514 active patients are in India, whereas a total of 2,71,697 have recovered.
Maharashtra continues to be the epicenter with the has the highest number of positive cases as well as deaths, respectively with the figures of 1,42,900 and 6739. Into Delhi, 70,390 people have been diagnosed with the disease so far, while 2365 people have died. Gujarat recorded 1735 deaths with 28,943 cases and Tamil Nadu reported 866 deaths with 67,468 confirmed cases.
