Director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan has responded to the explanation given by Tovino after the allegation of blocking the release of the film Vyak. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan's cousin Girish Chandran also spoke live with Tovino. The explanation is in a note shared on social media. 'It is sad that the issues I have raised are being tried to be diverted by telling lies. I am writing because some things need to be made more clear'.'1. I have not received any remuneration from the film Vavahak. Tovino Thomas and Girish Nair spent 27 lakh rupees each to make the film. The film started with an understanding that both of them would invest Rs 25 lakh each. It was Girish Nair's friend Shamir who invested money in Parrot Mount Pictures.
Girish Nair said, “When I asked for funds during the post-production of the film, Shameer only gave me 20 lakhs and now he has no money.” I approached his father who was looking after the affairs of Tovino Productions as I needed about Rs 7 lakhs. He said that he could not pay any more money as he had paid the promised amount. He also said that if Parrot Mount Pictures invests more money, they can also invest an equal amount. I had in my hand at that time the money received as a reward for writing off my right to the mount.
When I deposited the money, Tovino Productions deposited an additional Rs.2 lakhs. The money received from IFFK was split between the director and the producer. It is a lie to say that I took everything'. 2. In 2022, the film was not selected for the online edition of the Mumbai Film Festival. The selection was in the India gold competition category of the Mumbai Film Festival. It was accepted and after receiving the selection mail, they informed me that the festival is being made online.
He decided not to participate in the online festival because he wanted to show the fight in the theater. Tovino was willing to screen the film at the online festival. It is true that I said that it will be leaked if it is shown like that. Later in 2023, the film was screened in the theater itself at the Mumbai Film Festival'.'3. Tovino is lying to say that the “fight” is not coming to OTT platforms because of my non-cooperation. There was no non-cooperation on my part. Things are clear from Tovino later saying that the film was not made because of my public profile. Tovino says that the case and arrest against me is the reason. My arrest will be in May 2022. Tovino is making excuses with lies upon lies. Tovino has never said that directly to me. I was told that OTTs only pick up movies after theatrical release. (It's surprising that OTTs don't pick up the film because of the case only in my case)'
However, it is true that the film is not released. It's because I didn't try. When the possibility of a theatrical release appeared, I approached Century Pictures asking if they could distribute it. They said that they would consider distributing it if it was not for them to pay and they watched the film. I don't know why they changed their decision later.'
