He had to be admitted to the hospital due to overdose. Ramakrishnan was found unconscious in the Kunnissery Raman Memorial Art Gallery established by Kalabhavan Mani himself. He was rushed to hospital by friends. He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karukutti.
Ramakrishnan had sought permission to perform Mohiniyattam online at the Kerala Sangeethanataka Akademi. However, the authorities denied him permission. Ramakrishnan had also alleged that the authorities had insulted him. The strike was organized by various organizations.
