A woman from Kannur was brutally murdered at her home on Saturday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Vishnupriya (23).
Vishnupriya was an employee at a private medical lab in Panoor. She was found murdered in the bedroom of her house. Her throat was slit and hands were severely wounded.
The accused Shyamjith, a Manantheri native has been taken into custody who was on the run after killing the victim. He was nabbed by pinning his location based on the information from mobile phone towers.
Shyamjith reportedly told police he was upset as their alleged affair broke when she became closer to another person.
The incident happened when Vishnupriya’s parents were attending the post-death rituals of her grandmother. The body was found by a relative who returned to the house by around 12 in the noon.
Police said Shyamjith had planned the murder and he brought weapon to murder her.
