The gold scandal is surely wreaking quite a lot of havoc in Kerala. While the Customs Department has already started questioning former Principal Secretary to the CM, M Sivasankar, now Education Minister KT Jaleel’s name has been enlisted in the call registry of Sarith and Swapna Suresh, the first and second accused in the gold smuggling case. The transcripts of the phone conversation are from April 20 to June 1st, which the media personals have released. The records suggest that Swapna Suresh had spoken to the Minister nine times.
Minister KT Jaleel, while addressing the media, admitted that he had spoken to Swapna. However, the Minister maintained that it was according to the instructions received from the UAE Consulate that he had called Swapna. Minister Jaleel further added that he had been called by the UAE Consulate General and discussed about the distribution of Ramadan kits in the state. When quizzed about the number of calls made by the Minister to Swapna, he made it clear that the duration of most of the calls was less than two minutes. Well, in the coming days, more reports are expected to hit the media space, revealing the details of the gold smuggling.
