Transport Minister A. K. Saseendran has informed that the Lerner’s license tests, which were suspended as part of Covid-19 regulations, would be resumed from July 1st onwards.  Minister also added that the tests would be conducted online until further notice. The move is made to ensure that applicants are not crowded in the Motor Vehicle Department, thereby avoiding the spreading of Covid-19 disease.

The Department of Motor Vehicles has been instructed to provide a facility for applicants to appear for the examinations at their own place of convenience – Be it using their computer or mobile phones at their respective places. Test participants will be issued a learner’s license online and candidates have to print it out.  If the learner’s license is to be renewed after six months, candidates have to renew it online.

Further, the Department of Motor Vehicles will notify the number of applicants who can take the test online at a time. While announcing the same, the minister said that the public should be aware of motor vehicle laws and rules of driving, which is necessary for the protection of self and other on the road.
