Petitions pending in various High Courts seeking legalization of same-sex marriage have been transferred to the Supreme Court. Petitions pending in various High Courts including Kerala, Delhi and Gujarat were transferred to the Supreme Court. Chief Justice D.Y. The Chief Justice clarified that the lawyers of the petitioners in the High Courts can participate in the proceedings of the case through video conference. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court directed the central government to submit the affidavit on the petitions by February 15.
An organization called United Hindu Friends staged a protest in front of the Supreme Court on Friday demanding that the petitions should not be considered by the Supreme Court.
