Nivedh and Rahim had one of the most celebrated weddings in Kerala. It was one of the first marriages to be legalized in India. That’s why it gained a lot of news coverage. Now they are coming to share new life stories and decisions.
“It was one of the most celebrated weddings for me and Rahim. We were sure that our news would be an inspiration to a lot of people like us.
It was like a wedding for us. The pre-wedding photo shoot was a lot of fun. The message was clear – we are just like any other couple. However, getting out of the family quickly and living alone can be a daunting task. It takes a lot of time and patience.
Coming from an Orthodox Christian family, it was very difficult to deal with the problems at home. Tried a lot but families did not attend our wedding.
But our love overcame them all. We got married to each other after five years of love. Our society is still not ready to accept same-sex couples. Couples like us face greater intolerance than those who marry from a different caste or religion. It has often been wondered whether to go and live in any country that accepts a heavenly couple. But then we will think, why not in India?
The legalization of homosexuality in India was a very welcome decision. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. Its legitimacy is still remote. But none of them stops us from enjoying our life. It is our right to live as a son, partner, friend and father. So my partner and I decided to give birth to a baby through IVF. We will have a baby soon. ”
