State capital is under high alert as the number of people diagnosed with the Covid through contact from untraceable sources. Authorities have tightened the restrictions in the capital. Thiruvananthapuram has also witnessed a spike in the number of containment zones.
The places which were declared as containment zones are, Attukal, Kuriyathi, Kalikkalikulam, Manakkad, Tagore Road, Thrikkannapuram, Puthenpalam and Vallakkadavu. Authorities maintained that lockdown restrictions will be tightened in these areas.
The health department said that six persons had contracted the disease from an auto driver hailing from Manakkad. The auto driver’s wife and two children were also diagnosed with the disease.
On Friday, three of his close relatives were also diagnosed with the disease. In addition, two people from both the Vallakkadu river and the Mankatakkadavu were infected. Following this, the district collector has issued an increase in the number of containment zones.
