Media reports suggest that KSRTC is facing a loss of INR 20 Cr, as a result of the unauthorized operation of luxury private bus services in the state. It is been reported that over 400 unauthorized long route private bus services are functioning in the state. Exclusively reserved for KSRTC services, most of these intra – state nationalized long bus routes are now flooded with luxury private mafia.
The services, which are against the permit regulations, however are being carried out with the help of bookings done – both online and offline. Reports also suggest that such private luxury services are being done under the disguise of ‘tour package’ in contract carriage busses. However, KSRTC had already filed a complaint before the Motor Vehicle Department, to which no action has been taken till date.
