A young man was arrested in a case of extorting money by promising huge profits through online gambling. Mankada Police arrested Mohammad Rashid (22) of Valanchery Etayur Pattammarthodi. The arrest was made on the complaint of a woman from Mankada Vadakangara that she had stolen five lakhs of rupees.
The police said that the scam was done by advertising through YouTube video links. After buying 1 lakh from the woman, he made me believe that after eight hours, he will get back the profit of 1 lakh and 40 thousand rupees. From November 30 to December 3, five lakh rupees were stolen. After not getting the said amount, the woman lodged a complaint with Mankada police.
There are other similar complaints against Rashid. The police said that he participated in online gambling in Goa and lost the money. Mangada SI C.K.
