Manichitrathazar is one of the all-time classics of Indian cinema, not Malayalam cinema. What keeps this movie a classic is that it can capture audiences of any generation. This movie was directed by Faaz and many famous directors of Malayalam cinema worked as assistant directors in this movie. Priyadarshanam Sibi Mala and Lal and Siddhi were all part of this movie. The most remarkable thing is that they were established directors in Malayalam when they worked as assistant directors in this film.
Recently, the movie Manichitrathar was re-screened in Keralayam program. There was huge audience support. It was after this that the plan was again made to bring the film to the big screen. Now it is about to become a reality. Released in the year 1993, the film is coming back after 31 years.
The release date of the film has now been announced. It has not been officially announced but it is known that it will hit the theaters on July 12th or August 17th this year. Remastering of the film is underway. It will be released as soon as it is completed. June 17 is the upcoming date. The film will be re-released with a new trailer.
Meanwhile, MG Radhakrishnan has given the music for the film. All the songs in it are still loved by Malayalees. Malayalam audience is now looking to see if this movie can achieve any success outside Malayalam.
