Manu is the oldest tiger in Thiruvananthapuram Zoo. Manu is dead today. Manu’s age is 17 years. It is a tiger belonging to the Bengal tiger category. He died on Monday morning. This has become a big bad news for all the animal lovers.

Manu died due to liver disease. Manu was under treatment since December 2023. It has the distinction of being a tiger that was born and raised in the zoo itself. Manu was born to Karisma, a tiger. Manu was born on 13th January 2007. Manu is a male tiger.

The average lifespan of tigers is said to be only 12 years. But this is the average age of hunting tigers in the wild. Tigers live for 17 to 19 years at the zoo. Before becoming sick, this tiger was eating 7 kg of meat daily. But later Manu was unable to bite the meat from the bone.

Later Manu was fed boneless meat of goat, soup and milk. It can be known that old age is the cause of death. The tiger was removed from the exhibition from May 18. Later Manu was cared for in a special cage. It was customary to feed food by mouth using straw. Infrared light was used in the cage. This was to control the humidity. The body was cremated on Monday morning. Cremation was done according to the guidelines of the National Tiger Conservation Authority.
