Unni Mukundan starrer ‘Meppadiyan’ was screened at the Soorya Festival 2021-2022, the only festival in the world that celebrates art for 111 days at a stretch in Thiruvananthapuram. Director Vishnu Mohan was also present on the occasion.

Directorial debut by Vishnu Mohan and the maiden production by Unni Mukundan Films Private Limited (UMF), Meppadiyan was well-received by the audience for its engaging thriller plot which is usual in any common man’s life. Unni Mukundan portrayed as ‘Jayakrishnan’ was praised for his outstanding performance in the film. Many termed this film as the ‘career best film’ of Unni Mukundan.
The film was released on 14 January 2022 and now its streaming on an OTT platform.
Meppadiyan also won the Best Indian Cinema award at the Bangalore International Film Festival in the Chithrabharathi, Indian Cinema Competition 2021 category. This was also the first Malayalam movie to be screened at the India Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020.
