Meteorological Department Predicts Heavy Rain Across Kerala

New Delhi / Thiruvananthapuram: The meteorological department said that the south-east Arabian Sea and its adjacent central and eastern Arabian sea are likely to form by about 31 this month. Authorities have warned that the fishermen who are fishing from Kerala should not go to sea for any reason from May 31 to June 4.

The Central Meteorological Department and the State Disaster Mitigation Authority are closely monitoring the situation. They warned that further warnings should be followed and strictly followed. Fishing on the Kerala coast is not restricted. In the following areas, fishermen should not go fishing during this period.

24 May 24 to 30: Strong winds are possible at speeds of 40 to 50 km / h in the southwestern Arabian Sea.
26 May 26, 27: Strong winds are possible at speeds of 40 to 50 km / h in the northwestern Bay of Bengal.
27 May 27 to 29: Strong winds are possible in the North Arabian Sea with speeds of 40 to 50 km / h.
28 May 28 to 30: Strong winds are possible at speeds of 40 to 50 km / h in the southeastern Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep.

Meanwhile, the Met department said that thunderstorms with the summer rains could continue over the next five days. The Central Weather Department has issued a Yellow Alert for each of the following districts on their respective dates.

26 May 26: Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Malappuram
∙ May 27: Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode
28 May 28: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad
∙ May 29: Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram
30 May 30: Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur

The isolated areas are predicted to receive heavy rainfall from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. The Department of Meteorology has forecast that strong winds will blow across the state from May 26 to 30. The State Disaster Response Authority (RHRC) has issued a stern warning.

Fishermen engaged in fishing must be especially careful to avoid thunderstorms. Fishing in small boats is likely to increase the risk of thunderstorms. Therefore it is advisable to sit at these times. Those who are fishing on boats should avoid getting down on deck during thunderstorms. It should be safe inside. Attempts should be made to secure the communication equipment of fishermen during thunderstorms.
