The following week is very crucial for Keralites in the fight against Coronavirus. This is the last week of the Quarantine Period for foreigners before Lockdown.
Health experts estimate that so far there is no such evidence of community spread of the disease and if the same situation persists everything could be under control. Though the nationally announced Lockdown was launched last month from March 25th, international flights have been suspended since March 22.
All those who came in at this time were in the Quarantine. For most, the observation period will get over by 7th. Currently, 80% of Covid casualties in Kerala are from overseas. Health experts believe that with more stringent controls, including lockdown, fewer people are at risk of contracting the disease.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that unnecessary travel would be strictly blocked. There was an increase in the number of vehicles on yesterday’s lanes. A case has been filed against them. The inspection will only get stronger from today. Strict legal action will be taken if you travel on false information.
DGP Loknath Behra has instructed the police to tighten the checks again. Those traveling on affidavits for minor reasons will be arrested, the case will be registered and the vehicle seized.
