Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman said in a press conference that One Million Goal campaign will be organized with the aim of developing a new sports culture in the state. The campaign is jointly organized by the State Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Sports Council.
Ahead of the World Cup starting on November 20, 2022 in Qatar, basic football training will be given to one lakh students across the state as part of the camp. The minister informed that ten days of football training will be given to students between the ages of 10 and 12 in one thousand centers as part of the One Million Goal Camp.
The basic football training program is from November 11 to 20. The training is for one hour per day as per the specially prepared training syllabus. One lakh children from 1000 centers will be trained in 10 days with 100 children in each center. The minister also informed that a special scheme named “Goal” will be implemented to provide football training to 5 lakh children in the state.
The minister informed that when the world football tournament starts in Qatar, 1000 goals will be scored in 1000 training centers in Kerala and 10 lakh goals will be scored in the entire state. On November 20th and 21st at each training center as part of the camp, goals will be scored by the children participating in the training, sports enthusiasts and the general public at specially set goal posts. On 20th from 2pm to 6pm, the public and on 21st from 9am to 12pm, school children will have an opportunity to score goals.
The campaign is being organised with the objectives of spreading the message of the World Cup to all sections of the people, providing short-term basic training to children interested in football, providing expert training to those who excel, developing a new sports culture with the cooperation of Sports Council, Local Self-Governments, Educational Institutions, various Sports Development Organizations, Youth Clubs and Residence Associations.
Along with this, the anti-drug campaign launched by the state government with the aim of raising a generation with good health and good sportsmanship will also be promoted.
