One more Covid death has been confirmed in Kerala. Former Santhosh Trophy player of Kerala, Hamzakkoya (61) has died. With this, the death toll in the state has risen to 15. Hamzakkoya, who hails from Parappanangadi, was undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College Hospital. The veteran football player had returned from Mumbai on May 22nd. Apart from Hazakkoya, four of his family members too were tested positive for Covid, including two children. All of them are under treatment in Manjeri Medical College. It is learnt that all of them are stable right now. However, hospital authorities are paying an extra attention on the children, since both are at the tender ages; one being 3 years old and the other being 3 months.
It must be added that Hamzakkoya was the first person in Kerala to undergo Plasma therapy. He was given the plasma of two recovered patients, who hail from Tirur and Payyanad. However, by yesterday evening, his physical condition was further deteriorated. Played for Indian during the 70s and 80s, Hamzakkoya had played for various top clubs in the country, including Mohan Bagan and Mohammedan S.C.
