Best actor Oscar 2022 Will Smith slapped the host Chris Rock and shouted at the comedian for cracking a joke about his wife’s appearance at the Oscars ceremony on Sunday.
Initially, the episode appeared to be a scripted joke however it turned serious when Smith shouted, “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”
Rock was roasting some of the nominees and, after mentioning Smith, said of his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, “Jada, I love you, G.I. Jane II, can’t wait to see it.” A few moments later, Smith walked to stage and slapped Rock.
Responding to Smith’s reaction Rock said, ” Oh,Wow! Wow! Will Smith just smacked the shit out of me. Wow dude. It was a G.I. Jane joke,” referencing the 1997 film ‘G.I. Jane” in which actress Demi Moore shaved her head.
Earlier in December, Jada Pinkett Smith had told Billboard that she has been battling tha auto-immune disorder alopecia, which can cause hair loss and balding.
Will Smith won the Oscars 2022 Best Actor award for his role in King Richard, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green on Sunday. During his speech, Smith broke down and said, ” Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family. In this time in my life, I am overwhelmed by what God is calling on me to do and be in this world.”
