Paul Muthoot murder: Supreme Court notice on brother’s petition against acquittal of six accused

Supreme Court notice on the petition challenging the High Court verdict acquitting the six accused in the Paul Muthoot murder case. Paul M. The Supreme Court sent the notice on a petition filed by George’s brother, George Muthoot George. Justices Suryakant, J.K. The notice was sent by a bench consisting of Maheshwari and others.

The Supreme Court sent notices against the acquittal of the third accused Sattar, fourth accused Sujith, fifth accused Akash Sasidharan, sixth accused Satish Kumar, seventh accused Rajeev Kumar and eighth accused Shine Paul in the case. The Supreme Court had earlier clarified that it would hear the detailed arguments in the petition challenging the High Court’s verdict acquitting Jayachandran, the first accused in the case. The bench headed by Justice Suryakant clarified that all the petitions can be considered together. Advocates Kuriakos Varghese and Shyam Mohan appeared for the petitioner.

In 2019, the High Court acquitted eight accused in the Paul Muthoot murder case. The High Court acquitted the first accused Jayachandran, third accused Sattar, fourth accused Sujith, fifth accused Akash Sasidharan, sixth accused Satish Kumar, seventh accused Rajeev Kumar, eighth accused Shino Paul and ninth accused Faisal. The High Court upheld the sentence of Kari Satish, the second accused in the case, who did not file an appeal against the sentence of the trial court.
