In the opinion survey conducted by the BJP following the instructions of the central leadership, majority of office bearers are demanding that K Surendran contest as the BJP candidate in Pathanamthitta. Senior leader PK Krishnadas directly sought feedback from the district office-bearers and constituency presidents. Majority wanted K Surendran to contest instead of PC George. The opinion emerged in the survey that it is not right for the BJP state president to stand aside when prominent figures in CPM and Congress are taking the field. Moreover, BDJS, the main party in NDA, does not want PC George. The interest of BDJS leaders is also behind the attack on Vellappally Natesan PC.
At the same time, PC George came to the BJP camp after getting the assurance that he would be nominated in Pathanamthitta even after destroying his own party. But opinion polls and opposition from constituent parties are against George. If we think that PC can be shifted to Kottayam seat, BDJS is the obstacle there too.
