Transport Minister Antony Raju said that those who book a vehicle for excursions should inform the Motor Vehicle Department. He was speaking at Kannur Shikshak Sadan Auditorium while inaugurating Vahaneeyam 2022 District Level Grievance Redressal Adalat. The tourist vehicles/ buses will depart only after the department officials check it and issue a certificate.
In each district, the responsibility of specific vehicles is allocated to specific officers. The minister said that legal action will be taken against the officer in charge along with the vehicle owner if there is any violation of law in such vehicles.
No vehicle shall be allowed on the road without proper functioning of brake lights, parking and signal. Due to the effective intervention of the Motor Vehicle Department, the number of road accidents in Kerala has decreased despite the high traffic density. Kerala is the state that has a system that notifies the vehicle owner of real time over speeding warning.
The Department of Motor Vehicles had warned twice about the speed of the bus involved in the accident in Vadakkancherry. The minister said that the court has been informed about this.
Youths have a tendency to break the law. Due to that, two-wheeler inspection has been strengthened. Last day, 103 bikes with high CCU were taken into custody. There will be no for law breakers. Uniform color code will be mandatory. No tourist bus can ply the road without white paint. A textbook on road rules for Plus Two students has been prepared and given to the education department. If this is part of the curriculum then those who pass Plus Two later, do not need to take the Learner’s Test. The Department of Motor Vehicles is trying to create a road discipline in the state, Minister Antony Raju said.
