Kochi: The Lakshadweep High Court has rejected a petition against administrative reforms. The petition filed by KPCC member Noushadali was rejected. The court noted that only a draft of the reform proposals is currently pending. The petition was heard by a division bench headed by Justice LP Bhatia. The petitioner had also demanded that the administrative reforms be stayed immediately. But the court did not allow it. Instead, a letter was sent to the Center and the Lakshadweep Administration seeking an explanation.

The Lakshadweep administration had explained that the reforms would be implemented only at an early stage and that the decision on the reforms would be taken after considering the views of the people. Meanwhile, the court will consider Aisha Sultana’s anticipatory bail application today. The Lakshadweep government has told the high court that Aisha Sultana was referring to the ‘biological weapon’ as an attempt to incite hatred against the government. Senior Standing Consul on behalf of Lakshadweep Senior Superintendent of Police S.K. Manu says in the explanation given.
