Thiruvananthapuram: Officials of All Kerala Federation of Petroleum Traders have announced a strike in protest against the gang attacks on the pumps. Petrol pumps will be closed tomorrow from 8 pm to 6 am on January 1.
The organization says gang attacks and thefts are common at the pumps. They also inform that if the government does not take action, the pumps will work only till 10 pm from March.

The government has advised not to supply fuel in plastic bottles. The central agencies have also suggested that the license will be canceled if fuel is provided in this way. But the association says people who come to buy bottled fuel at night often cause trouble.
The organization demands that laws should be made to protect the pumps just as the government made laws to protect the employees after the attacks on the hospitals.
There are about 2000 petrol pumps in the state.
