The POCSO case accused who raped an 8-year-old girl and fled the country, was arrested from Abu Dhabi with the help of Interpol.
Febin (26), a native of Navaikulam of Varkala Taluk in Thiruvananthapuram, was arrested by the Kerala Police in the UAE.
A team consisting of Thiruvananthapuram Rural DCRB DYSP Vijukumar, Pallickkal ISHO Sreejesh VK Crime Branch Sub-Inspector Santhosh reached the UAE and completed the legal proceedings.
The accused was brought at 3.55 am today in the Air India Express flight that landed at Nedumbassery Airport.
In October 2019, the Pallickkal police registered a case under the POCSO act. By the time, the accused fled the country. However, when the efforts to bring the accused back to the country failed, the police issued a red corner notice. After months of procedures, the police team reached Abu Dhabi four days ago.
The incident related to the case took place in 2018. The accused sexually assaulted the girl, while she was on her way to the tuition class for a few days in a secluded area. Later, he left the country. The information about the harassment came to light when the minor girl’s class teacher noticed that the girl was not paying attention to studies and had a change in her behavior.
Then the school authorities informed the Childline workers and they eventually informed the police.
