A good start for Kollywood in 2019, as both ‘Petta’ and ‘Viswasam’ registered indeed great numbers at the box office. Riding on the charisma of Ajith, who being the opening king of Tamil cinema – ‘Viswasam’ edges out ‘Petta’ at TN box office. That said, who can compete with Thalaivar, when it comes to the final numbers?
Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’ – after gaining roaring applauds from celebrities – has gone onto mark a bigger worldwide figure. Going in line with trade analyst Girish Johar, ‘Viswasam’ registered INR 26Cr on the opening day, with ‘Petta’ closely following with INR 23Cr in its kitty. When it comes to the worldwide figure, ‘Petta’ has made a fantastic start with INR 48Cr, with ‘Viswasam’ trailing with INR 43Cr. In Chennai too ‘Petta’ leads the race with INR 1.12Cr, with ‘Viswasam’ raking INR .88Cr. Now, this underlines the star power of two of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars – Thala Ajith and Superstar Rajinikanth.
